This technique is primarily used to treat pain in the neck and back. It involves the joints being gently stretched or pulled apart to relieve pressure on structures which may be compressed, such as nerves, discs or cartilage.

IMS (intra-muscular stimulation) uses needling (similar to acupuncture needles) to target tense muscles or trigger points, causing a relaxation of muscles and a reduction in pain and pressure in the affected area.
OT Physiotherapy offers Active Rehabilitation by experienced Kinesiologists who specialize in return to function and strength and conditioning. The goal of our programs is to return clients to their pre-injury work and to their activities of daily living and leisure. Programs start with a movement screen and functional testing to identify a base line of function. The Kinesiologists then work one-on-one with clients during one hour sessions, two to three times per week. While progressing clients through a variety of activities or tasks, our therapists provide education regarding correct exercise technique, postural awareness, and proper movement patterns. Our Kinesiologists educate and empower their clients so that clients can take control of their rehabilitation.
Our Physiotherapists have extensive experience working with athletes, including elite, amateur and weekend warriors! Sport specific rehabilitation is key and our Physiotherapists will create a program tailored to your specific sport. Proactive is better than reactive! Identifying altered movement patterns and weak or overactive muscles helps prevent injuries.

They may also increase blood flow or help muscles contract if they are weak or not functioning properly. Electrotherapy modalities from which your Physiotherapist may choose include Ultrasound, Interferential Current, T.E.N.S., Muscle Stimulation, Cryotherapy (cold therapy), and Thermotherapy (heat).

An experienced therapist provides a detailed report outlining job duties and number of hours at the job site based on the physical abilities of the injured worker. Taping is an effective technique to aid in stabilizing joints and offering support to the injury. It can be used to provide relief from pain, control swelling and offer support and compression to injured areas.
Your Physiotherapist uses their hands to move the joints, nerves and soft tissues of your body in order to restore normal movement. The aim is to allow your joint(s) to move fully, correctly and with minimal pain or resistance. Joint manipulations can also be used if necessary.
